Mental health issues are projected to be one of the world's biggest causes of ill health by 2030. Just as breakthroughs in our understanding of cancer required interdisciplinary insights into basic biomedical mechanisms, a leap forward in our approach to tackle mental health must traverse disciplinary boundaries – linking across scales, species and society.

Doing things differently: our Mental Health Network

Mental Health problems are complex and require innovative and individualised solutions. We are committed to bringing Cambridge researchers, clinicians and lived experience partners together to deliver interdisciplinary insights for mental health breakthroughs. Our scientific expertise spans genetics, immunology, pharmacology, metabolic science, neuroscience and psychology, working collaboratively to usher in a new generation of ‘mental health science’.

Our Mental Health Research Network is primed to work with clinicians, Public Health professionals and lived experience partners to translate fundamental discoveries effectively towards clinical practice and care.
