The mission of the Department of Pathology is to, “Determine the causes, analyse the effects, and develop means for the prevention, early detection and improved management of diseases of medical, veterinary and social importance".
Based at the Downing Site on Tennis Court Road in central Cambridge and the Addenbrooke’s Hospital site in South Cambridge, members of the Department contribute to collaborations across the School of Biological Sciences, the Clinical School, and elsewhere in the University. Pathology is home to around 45 research groups arranged into four divisions: Cellular and Molecular Pathology, Immunology, Microbiology and Parasitology, and Virology.
The Department provides teaching in all three years of the undergraduate curriculum both for the Natural Sciences Tripos and the pre-clinical courses in the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos, as well as offering high-quality training for Postgraduate students in a varied and engaging research environment.
