The Amgen Scholars Programme is an 8-week summer internship offering 15 undergraduate students from across Europe the opportunity to work in a research laboratory at the University of Cambridge, whilst staying in one of the Colleges.

The University of Cambridge is one of the 5 institutions running the Amgen Scholars programme in Europe, with another 4 based across Asia. Approximately 135 students are admitted to the programme each year across all sites.

During their stay in Cambridge, Amgen Scholars have the opportunity to work on a research project in their host lab, as well as attending evening training sessions as part of a professional development programme. These include exploring different scientific careers, applying for postgraduate education and how to prepare and present scientific posters. There are also various social activities included throughout the summer.

A highlight of the programme is the Amgen Scholars European Symposium, which takes place in September at the University of Cambridge and brings together Amgen Scholars from across all European sites. This year’s 3-day Symposium included talks from Cambridge and Amgen speakers, panel discussions and poster sessions where students had the opportunity to present their work.

Applications for the 2023 Programme will open on 1 November 2022. More information is available on the Amgen Scholars Cambridge website.
