The Managers of the G C Grindley Fund will consider applications for grants specifically for research in the field of behaviour and its relation to mental processes and underlying physiological mechanisms. The resources of the Fund are limited and priority will be given to maintenance and subsistence support for undergraduate summer vacation projects. The maximum maintenance period will be for 10 weeks. Save in wholly exceptional circumstances, the Fund will not provide maintenance support to any PhD student who has come to the end of their funding nor will it fund postdoctoral fellows undertaking research in the Department or requests for equipment. The Managers are however willing to consider the funding of short research projects not exceeding three months that extend or augment PhD work, with a view to publication. The Managers will not make awards for undergraduate expeditions or for travel to conferences.
The Managers will make awards only to persons working at, or intending to work at, the University of Cambridge, or to those collaborating with persons working at the University of Cambridge.
Applicants must complete the application form (download below) and provide a letter of support from their intended project supervisor. Supervisors may not apply on behalf of students.
Successful applicants will be required to submit a short summary (half page of A4) of their achievements following the funding award at the end of their project.
The Managers will consider applications once a year; the deadline for receipt of applications is 1 May.
Applications (as short and concise as possible) should be sent by email or post to:
