Welcome to the Bioscience Impact Team

Impact is about the effect of research beyond academia, which has economic and societal benefit. This could be improving health or the environment, making money for wider economic gain, or altering policy.

This impact is important because we have a responsibility to maximise the public benefit from government and charity-funded research. It also increases income to the University via IP rights, industrial sponsorship and spin-out companies.

Impact contributes to the wider research funding of the University from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) through the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

I encourage you to consider the impact which is or could be generated from your research, and to engage with the Bioscience Impact Team for appropriate support.
