Introduction

The Illumina MiSeq System combines proven sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology with a workflow that enables you to go from DNA to analyzed data in as little as eight hours. The MiSeq integrates cluster amplification, sequencing and data analysis in a single instrument.

Performance

  • Output - > 1 Gb
  • Single Reads - 3.4 Million
  • Paired-end Reads - 6.8 Million
  • Required sample input - 50 ng with Nextera, 100 ng - 1 Μg with TruSeq
  • Read Length - 2 x 150 bp
  • Percentage of Bases > Q30 - > 85% (2 x 50 bp), > 80% (2 x 100 bp)

Applications

The MiSeq supports a wide range of applications, including the following:

  • Targeted resequencing
  • TruSeq Custom Amplicon Sequencing
  • De novo sequencing (< 20Mb for ∼ 50x coverage, < 50Mb for ∼ 20x coverage)
  • Small RNA sequencing
  • Metagenomics
  • Library QC

Library Preparation

You can sequence libraries prepared by any of the following Illumina sample preparation kits:

  • TruSeq DNA sample prep kit
  • TruSeq RNA sample prep kit
  • TruSeq Small RNA sample prep kit
  • TruSeq Custom Amplicon kit
  • Nextera Sample prep kit
