To all students
As a Part II student the majority of your work will be for the Tripos
rather than your 2nd MB/2nd Vet MB. However, this does not mean that your
essential medical or veterinary education can be neglected. Whether you
are reading NST Part II Biological and Biomedical Sciences, NST Single
Subject Part II or participating in a different tripos you must meet the commitments of your medical/veterinary
course.
Veterinary Students
Your clinical destination will be Madingley. It is a requirement for entry
into the clinical years that students provide evidence of having satisfactorily
carried out at least twelve weeks' work on a farm, or with the larger
farm animals. It is your responsibility to arrange this. Full details are
given in the Farm Practice booklet distributed to all vet students, and
further advice may be obtained from the Farm Practice Secretary or the organiser
of the Principles of Animal Management/Preparing for the Veterinary Profession courses.
Further information is obtainable on-line at Principles of Animal Management & Preparing for the Veterinary Profession
Medical Students
In November of your Part II year (Part IB for affiliated
students) you
will have to complete an application form for your
Clinical School. The
majority of you will stay in Cambridge and go on to
Addenbrooke's, but you may
also choose to apply to the John Radcliffe at Oxford, or
to one of the London
Clinical Schools. Your College Director of Studies will be
able to advise you
on your application.
You will also continue the clinical strand of your course,
Preparing for
Patients C and D. PfPC ; Non-clinical Community Experience
takes place over the
year 2/3 Long Vacation and is debriefed by college
supervision in the
Michaelmas term of your third year. PfPD : Continuity of
Care is a longitudinal
study undertaken throughout the year.
Further information may be obtained through the
Preparing
for Patients Programme. PfP is a 2nd MB subject, and
you are required to
pass all four strands before entering Clinical School.
